The Tinada Youth organisation originally started as a youth-based organisation and registered as a Community-based organisation in 2004. The organisation focuses on four programmes ; Youth empowerment, Mental Health awareness, Human Rights and Early Childhood Development.
In this project, Tinada is aiming to end stigma and discrimination against people with mental disabilities while increasing their access to quality mental health care services and justice within Vihiga, Kakamega and Bungoma counties in Kenya.

Project
The project Campaigning for Mental Health targets three counties in western Kenya namely Kakamega, Vihiga and Bungoma. It promotes full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with mental disabilities. The project focuses especially on the right to access justice and quality healthcare services, by reducing stigma and discrimination and promotion of people's well-being and respect for their inherent dignity.The campaign enhances public awareness on mental health and increases collaboration and partnerships among all stakeholders on mental health and to protect against all forms of discrimination and stigma for persons with mental illness. Overall it aims to promote the design, development and implementation of the Mental Health policy and strategy in the three counties.
