  • Organisation

JUKWAA LA KATIBA TANZANIA (JUKATA), also known as Tanzania Constitution Forum was formed in January 2011 by like-minded Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). The Organisation promotes a culture of respect for and implementation of the Constitution of Tanzania and to agitate for the making of a new democratic constitution in Tanzania. Overtime, JUKATA membership has grown to over 200 institutions.

The umbrella organisation envisions achieving a participatory democratically made Constitution which addresses concerns of all Tanzanians. Accordingly, JUKATA advocates against any breach of the existing Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania and The Constitution of Zanzibar respectively. The Organisation inspires and mobilises the public to fight for and participate effectively in the process towards a new Constitution.

    • Project

Jukwaa la Katiba Tanzania (JUKATA) builds civil society capacity in defending constitutionally guaranteed democratic rights. This is done through increased understanding of selected Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and coalitions on constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and rights. The Inclusive Voices of CSOs project benefits a number of stakeholders including young men and women, CSO networks and thematic, regional and district levels as well as marginalised groups such as people with disabilities, People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) and the elderly who are organised in institutions.
