    • Project

Later in (2019), Tanzania shall enter into Local Government elections (for electing streets, village, and cell leaders) and the year after (2020), the country shall enter into the general elections. The Rooting Youth Participation in Politics project provides civic awareness to the youth in Mvomero District to be able to participate effectively both as voters and contestants. Juhuiya Vikundi-Hisa Mvomero na Turiani (JUVIHIMTU) in collaboration with Mvomero District Council intends to implement this project in three wards; Sungaji, Mkindo, and Mhonda through an informed citizenry.

The project builds on the gains made so far through its Empowerment Initiative and enhances citizens/youth and duty bearers’ knowledge on the right of youth to participate in political issues especially attaining various positions responsible for decision-making. The youth are equipped with information, knowledge, and skill that allows them to participate and engage the local and national government on issues affecting them especially resource allocation (access 4% of internal council budget allocated to youth).

The involvement of important stakeholders during the implementation of an intervention is a prerequisite for sustainable growth of this project. This identifies potential actors, their assumed and potential role, levels of importance, willingness to participate in the process and the influence they can exercise on the process of change. This has informed the implementing strategies in answering the fundamental question of, #how to deal with these stakeholders# and has also helped in understanding the relationship amongst the stakeholders, and its implications on the process of project development.
