Success story of one of our indigenous woman, she had an opportunity to attend the training on land right and land ownership.

During our meetings and trainings on Land rights  one of the women with disability and a single mother  shared a story on  land ownership. she opened  up that,  Her late mother had bought the land and before she died she gave locally  hand written agreement to her sister to be the trustee.  From what she learnt from Land rights training  and specifically on  land succession, she gain the courage and went further to engage the facilitator for advice. Before visiting the land registers office she had smell a rat that her aunt was not ready to let go of the land.  She took the advice  of the facilitator and visited the Land registrar’s office to find out about the land through a land  search process. After the search she noticed that the land status  was still  registered under the name of Land seller who the maternal aunt held in trust on  behalf of her deceased sister.  she took a bold step and approached the witnesses who had witnessed Land sell in the year 2006, the witnesses were the village elders, luckily they are still alive. She is now happy  and in pursuit of documentation so that the Land in question is transferred to her name.
